Actually, it just grows... up. Never out. It hasn't really spread, beyond that.

I don't think it's a sunflower, but I could be mistaken. It's either a weed or another herb (herbs being little more than useful weeds.) You'd think someone as country grown as myself would know...
I'm still trying to figure out the perspective on that photo, what with the top of the pot and the bottom of the leaves... makes me kinda dizzy...
