Excerpted from a Something Awful forum thread about alternative comics, and found wedged in between a gushing review of Craig Thompson's Blankets and a recommendation that we all pick up Coober Skeeber #2.

Superhero comics kick-ass. Look most of the stuff I buy isn't superhero. However, It has its place. Who doesn't wanna see Capt. America kicking the shit out of Nazi's, who doesn't wanna see Wolverine tear someone to shreds, who doesn't wanna see Superman and Doomsday wrecking buildings left and right trying to save the world. It's people like you guys who caused the industry to crash in the eraly 90's. Get over it, you can try and be different with your choices, and granted there is some great non-superhero stuff out there. Let's face it Comics can't survive without superheros.

Better find a chalkboard. Gotta scratch out I WILL NOT BRING ABOUT THE FALL OF THE COMICS INDUSTRY BY BUYING COPIES OF EIGHTBALL a hundred times!

Yeah, I remember when we brought about the fall of the comics industry. We were all hanging out, buying multiple copies of "Milk and Cheese" all whilst ignoring the frightened pleas of the store owner... "Please, for the love of God, buy a copy of The Amazing Spiderman! You're killing the industry!"

And we were all like "Yeah... Yeah, we are."

MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
