Blikada A-Go-Go!

Yup. Page seven, now. Gotta keep the pace up. Check the comics section.

Sorry about the lack of updates, recently. But... You know. The Sims 2. I'm amazed I've gotten even this much done, I've been spending all my time on custom clothes for electronic dolls these days.

I've discovered turning up the contrast makes the Blikada files a few kilobytes smaller, so expect me to keep that up. I lose detail that way, but it's better than having these pages swell even more grotesquely in the future, once the scenery becomes more complicated.

T-minus two pages until actual dialogue. Who's excited?

Say, are you using Windows & Photoshop? The builtin PNG in the default configuration of PS sucks and makes PNGs a lot larger than they should be. You might want to try the SuperPNG plugin instead.

But ~160k on pages with so much detail is pretty damn good already, so I wouldn't worry too much, though through reducing the color depth to 4 colors and using the SuperPNG plugin I was able to get the latest Blikada page down to 100kB with a barely noticable loss in quality.

I'll be uploading the newly-colored panels as I finish them. Sparkneedle coloring takes a while, I'm afraid. I had a great headstart on that first installment, but we've been going out and doing stuff too often, lately. Making comics and having a life are not compatible aspirations.
