Other than a less than satisfying local band, I only know of one klezmer band, One Ring Zero, their latest album is pretty killer, the songs were all written by the Mcsweeney's writers, (from New York, I think). They use an amusing array of insturments as well.

I saw the Amsterdam Klezmer Band a few months ago and can heartily recommend them.

Funny you should ask this now, as I just tracked down and ordered a copy of "What is Bhangra?" (various artists, 1994.) Nina Paley (and Sita) inspired me.

i quite enjoy the klezmatics and there's a great bhangra compilation called "Bhangra Beatz" that i love more than toast (plus you can get it off amazon for $10). i think the klezmatics CD i have is "Rise Up! Shteyt Oyf!"

If you're still ooking: Geoff Berner is good, I've seen him play live. Punk klezmer accordion thing going on, though there are other things mixed in as well.
