I'm quite sure something odd is going on with Ben. A reaction to the gunk? I mean, what if it had some chemical in it that made people more docile and relaxed - would really aid in take-downs. Now, I'm not sure that Templarverse is that much into science fiction, so that's probably not likely. But ODing on his meds seems plenty likely.
I mean, even Scipio's showing signs of "wtf?itis."
