Templar: You get the reference, right?

Her parents weren't expressing Irish pride, there.

I lifted that name from Freakonomics, by the way. The author, at the end of a chapter containing an exhaustive analysis on the naming trends and conventions of poor, rich, white, and black Californians, claims that he suspects "Flannery" is poised to be the next decade's "Emma." We'll see, huh?

Anyway, back to work. You guys have another page due tomorrow, and I intend to deliver.

Who here thought that mousy little voice on the previous page was gonna turn out to belong to Gordon? Show of hands!

For a while, I admit I thought it was Gordon, but now in retrospect it COULDN'T have been. Anyone who's infamous enough to send Reagan into avoidance mode has to be FAR MORE TERRIFYING than a mousy little floor assistant.

Ergo, I can't WAIT to see this.

I thought it must be Gordon, and that he was a mousy accountant about to nitpick Reagan to death about something.

I freely admit I did. Who wants to be moused at just as you're trying to make your escape from work?

*raises hand* I had to read the previous comic and this one twice.

I like Flannery. :3

I hope we see more of her in the future.

Also, Freakonomics was excellent. I just wish there was more of it.

Waiiiit...who's Gordon?
I don't remember anyone named Gordon...
I think I'm missing something here.

We haven't seen Gordon, yet. We will soon, tho..

What was the previous decade's Emma?

According to the Department of Social Security? "Ashley."

That's funny, because "Flannery" reminds me of the french word "flānerie" (I'm french), which means something like dawdling, or strolling...

I assumed that was Gordon - I figured he was either a masochist who got off on being verbally abused by Reagan, or one of those people who's so quietly, persistently annoying that you want to kill them after half an hour in their presence.

I look forward to meeting the real Gordon!

I did - but there's much sense in Lyra's comment that a mousy little voice wouldn't put such ire into Reagan... and I echo the sentiment that I can't WAIT for what's coming.

Oh, I should also mention that whomever it was that put the Reagan Mancuso NPC into the World of Warcraft expansion REALLY likes the comic - she's right there in Thrallmar, sells a new hot item (woo, gems!), and furthermore she can REPAIR STUFF, making her the first person in about a bajillion mile radius who can do so. Every time I visited the area I'd gleefully run to her to sell the crap I'd picked up and repair my stuff, and thought fondly of the comic. Very, very nice combination of two excellent things. ::applauds::

-A!

I didn't think of this Gordon person, though I'm sure I GET the reference, I just can't remember it RIGHT NOW (and I'm going to look dumb, heh), but I IMMEDIATELY thought of mousy, bald Dick from High Fidelity.

I dunno--I suppose I should read through the archives and figure out who you're all talking about. XD

Oh sonofa. Every time you ask a question like that and I have no idea what's going on, I wind up rereading the entire archive.

Yeah, Gordon was mentioned in the last comic. SIGH.

I thought Flannery was named after Flannery O'Connor.

And yeah, I definitely thought the mousy little voice would be Gordon.

I did... And I think that wishy-washy, milquetoast people probably annoy the SNOT out of folks like Reagan. A ballbuster like herself, she could respect, even if she didn't necessarily like him or her.
