Intermission: Hot Ushabti Action.

While we're waiting for Beavis to be well and truly mummified, we're making these.

Ushabtis were tiny figurines tucked into the bandages of Egyptian mummies. They were meant to be sculptures of servants that would magically come alive in the afterlife, and labor for whoever they'd been assigned to.

Matt and I were enough for Beavis in life, and to avoid being ritually murdered by any cabals of priests Old Kingdom style in order to accompany him to the fields of Osiris, we've made little clay dopplegangers of ourselves to ease the passage.

You have no idea how much it sucks trying to sculpt a rat's ushabti. "Tiny" doesn't even begin to cover it. I think my prescription just jumped to 20/80.

I admire your dedication. At this point, I just throw the damn thing in the garbage and say "fuck it."

Hey Chuck, have you been by the POE as of late? Check this out.

I am STILL freaking out over the rotting rat innards.

STILL FREAKING OUT.

I think you might have misjudged the ratio with the natron. Perhaps you should have put in more salt than baking soda, to help it dry out better. Then, you could now not be multi-tasking.

Seriously Small Sculptures(tm)

How long'd that one take?

Dirk: Took about an hour, give or take fifteen minutes. Hardest part was the hair. Definitely the hair.

Camel: I'm beginning to believe that, actually. I wouldn't be shocked, since I clearly have no idea what I'm doing, and this is my first time mummfiying anything. Mistakes are kind of mandatory, I think. In any case, I still have one rat left; I imagine he'll just be a much neater and quicker job in general.

Tom: Yanno what I heard about freeze-dried critters? They're not suitable for people who live in warm enviroments and don't have air-conditioning. Ya see, the fat in the tissues liquifies and runs out around the base and floor if ii gets hot enough.

Awesim.

Don't you acknowledge that it is the best time to receive the home loans, which will make you dreams real.
