Lyle Goes to War!

| | Comments (0)

Hey, everybody: Lyle Croc O' Guile's just gone to war over at Mojizu. Go vote for him here, just to make sure he doesn't lose too badly.

I'm entertaining a sick fantasy where Lyle goes head-to-head with Uncle's Fistman, mostly because I dig his Daily Grind comics so much. Help my complicated, meaningless delusion become reality!

Holy shit, it WORKS!

Go on, try it!

templaraz.com

It updated on Saturday, actually. But all that went up was the bare inks, and I woulda hated to link you guys to that. But it's done now. So hooray!

"Close-protection officer." Even he knows how dumb it sounds, and he's the one saying it.

And don't forget, now that it's Monday, Sparkneedle is updating again! More stuff every weekday. Enjoy.

There needs to be a new word for pornography that is intentionally devoid of any erotic usefulness. The kind of stuff clearly made on a dare. The smut that exists for the sake of existing, not because anyone ever demanded it.

Because none of you are really and truly jerking it to drawings of Calvin and Hobbes sodomizing one another. You're just not. I'm sorry, but I don't believe you.

Tomorrow will mark a week's worth of free Sparkneedle, after which it'll break for the weekend and resume updating daily on Monday. But Templar's updated today, too! Exciting.

Gotta go, new fan art to upload. Watch for it to show up later tonight.

So I've been losing way too many goddamn hours to Oblivion, lately. And it makes me wonder a little.

I've seen Otherkin, who think they're fictional fantasy creatures. And I've seen Otakukin, who think they're specific anime characters. And I've seen Fictionkin, who insist they have the souls of specific characters from novels.

Does anyone out there think they're a video game character, yet? Because that would just be too fucking perfect.

I don't really mean the three or four monsters of wrongness fighting over who's married to Sephiroth on the astral plane. I'm thinking more in terms of people who think they're their own RPG characters. From games we know.

I wanna meet the guy who thinks he has the soul of a level 39 Tauren druid.

Well, no. No, I don't. But I definitely want to read his Livejournal.

Sparkneedle is now FREE!

Oh, and every weekday, as long as the archives hold out.

Sparkneedle is an experimental comic, previously available exclusively on Girlamatic. Don't read it at work or in front of your poor old sainted grandmother, for reasons that should be very, very obvious from page one. Consider yourself warned.

Oh, and turn on your Javascript. Don't worry, it won't be annoying.

Templar, Plus.

New page. Short, but sweet. Do enjoy, won't you?

And other stuff's in the works. Watch this space on Monday.

Grab Bag.

Lyle Croc O' Guile has been selected as a Hot Moji over on Mojizu! That's a good thing. Thanks for all the votes, guys! I should probably find out what a "Moji War" is soon, because now he's elligible.

Item: The Webcartoonists' Choice Awards are about to begin accepting nominations. If you make a webcomic, sign up, and nominate a deserving party. Or, uh, think about who you'd like to nominate. Site's still being built, from the looks of things.

Uh oh. Due to seven-figure embezzlement, Palladium Books, publishers of the classic RIFTS pen-n-paper RPG, is in serious financial trouble. If you've ever been even the least bit curious about breakin' out the Funyuns and Mountain Dew and getting your Glitter Boy on, now is definitely the time to pick up a few books.

Extraordinarily not-safe-for-work Dave Cooper comic. I wish my brain worked this way.

Would anyone at all be interested if I tried to set up a Templar, Arizona feed for Livejournal? Show of hands would be appreciated, before I waste my time or anything.

And I will answer my email soon. Promise. SAH-WARE.

Page 53!

I have a feeling they each know the steps to this dance by heart. And they do it pretty often.

Hey, guys?

Please don't email me, PM me, or approach me at a con to ask me if I think your Really Neat Comic Idea is any good. Because the truth of the matter is, I have no idea. Nobody does. And nobody will ever know if your comic is any good until you actually DO IT. If you have five or ten pages of the comic finished and want an opinion on some work that's ready to be seen, GREAT. I'd be happy to take a look. But I can't judge anything based on a pitch. I don't really believe anyone can. Not reliably, anyway.

Nearly any plot or concept can be executed poorly, no matter how original or well-pitched it is. And plenty of plots and set-ups that sound exceptionally trite in theory can make for great stories.

Your plot is important, but how you plan to tell it is what will ultimately make it worth reading. And I have no idea how you plan to tell anything if all you've got for me is "It's about (x)."

Okay. It's about (x).

So?

The last time I goofed on racism, I got yelled at on Livejournal. You'd think I'd learn. I, in fact, do not.

Sorry for the lack of toning. It'll be done tomorrow.

Page 51, and the principal cast introductions are complete. Finally.

Frikkin' FINALLY.

Jeezum.

By the way, that doesn't mean what you think it means. It really doesn't. Especially in this particular Arizona.

When did my Mojizu account degerate into an Aesop's Fables wannabe full of moralistic parables? Weird.
