Stop me if you've heard this one before.

Okay, so, there's this cartoonist from the Internet, right? And she's this liberal, pacifist, pro-choice, borderline-socialist atheist. And this chick, she walks into a bar with a pro-life, pro-war, conservative fundamentalist. And he's a cartoonist from the Internet, too.

And these two people, the guy and the chick, they sit down together, and the chick, she sez, "You know, you're not such a bad guy."

And the guy, he sez, "You know, the same goes for you!"

...

And then they doodle on the napkins. Cuz cartoonists are all a bunch of big dumb nerds.

Get it? See, the punchline is that was all pretty much totally real. He is a nice guy. For serious.

I've been trading emails with Dan Lacey for a couple of days now. He draws Faithmouse, a pro-life, Christian, political-ish cartoon. And he's in a little bit of trouble. I feel for him, too, since being scarily short on cash is no strange circumstance in my case, either. (I'm a cartoonist, after all. Duh.) But he's trying out that tips-for-toons thing Templar recently took up, and sincerely, I wish him luck. I hope his audience ponys up ferociously and lets him live his dorky dream. I know I enjoy living mine.

Speaking of which: New Templar.

See you guys later.

Thanks for the post, Spike. I have to say I'm not a fundamentalist; I'm a conservative Catholic. I'm also not pro-war, I'm pro-troops. Some people might say that's only an issue of semantics, but even most Democrats would maintain that they are indeed pro-troop.
Your cartoons are very thoughtful and you are as well; thoughfulness being the basis of how two very different people can sustain dialogue.
All the best!

Thanks! And oops. Haw.

Duely noted, Dan. I'll adjust the entry after I'm done with tomorrow's pencils!

No apology necessary. Many people assume I'm a fundamentalist, and I didn't correct the folks who were saying that on the SA board, mainly because it would have cost me $10 to do so.
Liked your conceptualization. My character can't drink though. Bad prostate.

Oh you geeky cartoonists.

I'm pro-war but anti-troops...

I'm not pro-troop, because I believe that killing for any reason is morally reprehensible. If it weren't for the individual people willing to kill for their corrupt governments, then there would be no war. By participating in the killing process, the troops are just continuing the cycle of murder that's plagued our planet since the beginnings of humanity. They're still part of the problem, rather than part of the solution.

It's a little too late for that, if we stopped the mindless killing, that doesnt mean everyone else will, which just makes us easier to kill off...people will always have disagreements, plus, without the military screwing up it's weapons, we wouldn't have as many technological innovations, which, i guess, is good and bad...

I fear (browsing the comments on his announcements) that Templar may not be sending the must, ah, sympathetic crowd over to his sight. Judge not indeed.
