And a very appropriate one, too.
A couple of people in the blog comments have asked if Moze is a Sincerist. Nope. You'll notice he's not wearing a heart on his sleeve, so you can safely assume he's just a run-of-the-mill, unusually honest guy. He's probably more honest than most Sincerists, as a matter of fact. They're more preoccupied with convincing people that they're telling the truth than they are with actually doing so.
Hope that makes sense.
There are new vote sketches up too, including one where I get all MAKEzine and show off my "inkwell." It works very nicely, too. And for the first time, I slip into the realm of autobio. Shrink away in terror. I certainly did.
More Friday.
By the way, the books? FexEx sez I should get 'em July 2nd. My fingers are crossed...
Goblin is the best name in the world for that dog. He just looks so depressed and ugly and huggable.
Oh dear.
I'm at once fearful of and anticipating Tuesday vs. Ben.
Either that or he'll cease to exist after asserting that he is not actually in the band. Although that whole 'writer' thing might net her interests.
... oh dear. Actually, what would be even more interesting is if she actually reads his stuff.
Yes I had the same impression about Moze. He's definetely not a sincerist. He is just unnaturely honest. Most sincerists must secretely hate him, actually.
I just noticed the 'deep fried sugar' bag.
Spaz is a good name for it!
Wow, Sunny must be a treat when (if?) he crashes off that perpetual sugar high.
I got one note to make and it's a nitpicky artist one. Tuesdays arm in the first panel seems unnaturally short and straight, at least in proportion to her head. And I can't quite figure out what her hand is doing, oher than holding Moze at bay.
Usually I have less than no problem with how you draw body parts. Really, you're one of the rare few who really try to get poses to be natural and it shows.
(I am also endlessly amused by the last scene 'Take Goblin' 'NO!' There's an unspoken 'Don't touch me with that thing' in there, which is kinda fun. You wouldn't think that there was anything that Sunny WOULDN'T say.)
I admire Tuesday's unflappability in the face of Mose. I guess she must be pretty battle-hardened from frequent propositions.
I laughed my ass off when I saw Moze's hand in the first panel
That's a comical "Can I please grope you?" hand gesture if I ever saw one.
Wow, Sunny sure likes his sugar :O
You kill me with that dog's facial expressions.
Deep fried sugar?
*hurk*
I love Tuesday. I want to find out whether she's a lesbian or not.
Mmm, deep fried sugar.
Like those coke balls. How odd.
And I totally agree with wood. The sincerists probably hate them.
ha. I wonder what Curio thinks of the sincerists?
And wow. Reagan and Scip weren't invited! D: aww
OK, so the second vote sketch? Yeah. The untold story there definitely warrants a snortgiggle.
And Pangaea sounds like a great place to eat. Though I'm guessing they specialize in Bulgarian? ;)
I always kind of suspected that the Sincerists were in it more for having permission to be hypercritical assholes than because they actually believed in honesty. Go Moze, for not having any agenda. Of any kind. Like, ever.
Something that's been bothering me, can scincerists use sarcasm?
It isn't deceitful, but it's technically saying something that isn't true... I think I could manage to be a scincerist if I was alowed to keep my sarcasm.
hmmm, you raise a good point cephalopod
sarcasm is generally lying outright for the purpose of humour, but since it's humour it's not meant to be taken seriously
can sincerists lie in a non-serious manner?
not that i can really come up with a real arguement, i'd never heard of a sincerist until i read some of these comments
The sincerists were featured in September 2006. They appear to have no sense of humor whatsoever. If they'll assault someone over a jokey t-shirt, I'm guessing sarcasm wouldn't fly either.
My German TA in college told us that "they don't have sarcasm in Germany". How is that even possible?
Sarcasm was set against Schadenfreude in an all out death match. They sold tickets.
Schadenfreude won.
...As a long-time lurker and great fan, I would like to weigh in with two things--
1.) Curio amuses me because she's this silly young girl who desperately wants to be cool and in the Templar know and can act the part but can't pull it off. Tuesday bothers me because she's exactly what Curio's trying to be, but not fake or funny.
2.) I have Moze-esque love for that second sketch of Reagan. It is very dirty. And wrong. Much like me. :o
Uh...otherwise...go Spike go. Keep truckin' out one of the highest-quality comics on this here interwubs.
