I seriously don't know what to think about this. I mean, I can't decide if it's real of not.

I'm pretty sure it's real. She's supposedly a somewhat well known ornithologist.

Whether we like it or not... Nature created Michael Jackson. Think about that for a second. Even whatever horrible deviant process that was used to create his hideously malformed face, was all created by the very hands and mind that evolution (or God if that's the way you roll) gave us.

What kind of sick fucking world do we live in?

The National Film Board of Canada has just put fifty of their most popular animated shorts online. Awesome! Includes such classics as The Big Snit and The Cat Came Back.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not...

When I was in college we had to watch seemingly endless hours of these Canadian cartoons, and I absolutely loathe them. I am glad I live in "Merica, where our cartoons are crass and commercial and yet entertaining.

(Or it could be that college managed to suck the fun out of anything... The two examples you mentioned are alright, but there's some boring pretentious shit amongst those cartoons.)

I'm being totally serious. I love The Big Snit. It's too ridiculous to be believed.

I'm with Spike on those. It's been 15 years since I've seen The Cat Came Back. Fucking awesome.

I love many of them myself, although they sometimes do devolve into pretension. The big snit is a wonderful cartoon, and Bob and Margaret spawned off of one of those famous national film board shorts didn't it?

AAAAAAAAAAA! AIIIIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!

I am giddy, GIDDY I TELL YOU.

Where I grew up in Michigan, we picked up Windsor Teevee just fine, thankya. I grew up on stuff like "Blackfly" and "Logdriver's Waltz", Canadian Sesame Street, Mr. Dressup and This Hour Has 22 Minutes. Emily's old roommate Jen used to organize viewing parties for the Juno awards, for cryin'out loud.

I heart Canada.

Well shit, now I need to see some of the boring, pretentious ones. I've mostly only ever see these things at animation festivals and such, and naturally they only play the entertaining stuff.

So what manner of college course had you watching Canadian public service cartoons, anyway, Gerry?

Just did. AWESOME.

This was what I always liked NFB, because they encourage such radically diverse work.

Reminds me of these guys
